At 32 1/2 weeks, my belly is big, my back hurts, and bring on the heartburn! Overall, however, I can't complain that much. I seem to have found a way to sleep again (after a few weeks of uncomfortable tossing and turning) -- hopefully I'll continue to sleep as I go through the last 7 1/2 weeks.
Two weekends ago I started going to a Saturday morning prenatal yoga class; hopefully I'll be able to continue the class right up until my due date! It's been nice to meet some other women -- who are at all stages of pregnancy -- and some of the stretching and strengthening moves we do feel good for my back.
We're also slowly figuring out the maze of baby gear. We got our crib mattress today, and the crib should be arriving tomorrow. For those who are curious, we decided to go with the Lolly and Me Sawyer Crib in the natural finish. Slightly risky, as it's a newer product and there aren't any reviews out about it yet. However, the few reviews we've seen on one of the other Lolly and Me cribs have been very positive. We like that the crib is made in the U.S. (as opposed to on the other side of the world), is made from hardwood, is manufactured in an ecologically responsible way, and has an instruction manual online that illustrates a really straight-forward assembly. Many thanks to Sam's parents for giving us a crib!
We have also decided on a car seat and stroller. I find it odd that picking out these items was such a linked process, but with all of the 'travel systems' out there -- wherein an infant car seat fits into a stroller to provide easy transport when the baby is still really young -- it made more sense to consider these items together than separately. We are going with the Britax B-safe infant car seat and the Britax B-agile stroller, both in red. Hopefully the car seat will fit in both our cars; part of the reason we got it was for increased side impact protection in my '02 Honda civic (which has fewer safety features of its own), so hopefully it will fit! We are also hoping that the 3-wheel design on the stroller will be all right. I am surprised by how many strollers these days are 3-wheel models instead of 4-wheel ones. But the B-agile seemed the best of the (limited) options for pairing with the B-safe car seat, and the stroller gets really good reviews on Amazon, so hopefully it will be a good fit for us. Many thanks to my parents for giving us our 'travel system'!
Between a crib, crib mattress, car seat and stroller, I am starting to feel like we are a bit more ready for this baby, whenever she decides to arrive. Hopefully she'll stay put until her due date (or a little after) but it's nice to begin to feel like we wouldn't have to scramble to get some basics if she decided to come really early.
